AIDS, CANCER AND ARTHRITIS – A NEW PERSPECTIVE This book is essentially a second edition of Dr. Pease’ first one entitled ‘L-Forms, Episomes and Autoimmune disease’ which arose out of her belief that a third dimension of infection was needed to explain some human disorders that appeared to have a microbiological connection but not a conventional one. The diseases discussed were immunopathologies often called auto-immunities - including rheumatic, nephritic and haemolytic ones. The hypothesis presented was actually of great simplicity. The idea was that bacteria and viruses might be capable of acting as carriers/vectors of DNA, unrelated to the carrier and which if successfully incorporated into nuclear processes of the recipient host would seriously interfere with its bodily control mechanisms. Thus the proposed unconventional role of the associated microorganisms is that of vector as opposed to being pathogenic per se. Without the alien DNA the vectors would be essentially harmless. Effectively this book predicted natural genetic engineering (NGE) – the third dimension of infection. Although this hypothesis appeared to breach the basic rules of accepted biological doctrine its validity was verified a few years later with the discovery of the alien DNA vector status of the causes of plant cancer (Agrobacterium tumefaciens, plus a tumour inducing plasmid) and some avian and animal cancers (retroviruses carrying unrelated cellular DNA). Both types of vector, as predicted, are harmless without the alien DNA. This book is still available in some 100 libraries in the US, in the top university libraries in the UK and Ireland and in several other countries.
